Francesco Landucci tries to recreate the sonorous landscape of the ancient Etruria with a passion and a philological cure that are really amazing... Francesco pushes himself until to recreate the ancient etruscan instruments with which he carries out its recordings! And the soundscapes used for his "scenes" are recorded as much close as possible to the original location inhabited by the etruscans eight centuries before Christ...
The playlist: 1. Aque Populanie (thermal baths of population). Situated on the slopes of the “Poggio di Moscona”, the Baths of Roselle have been an important reference point in the territory of Grosseto, and even if they were probably known since Antiquity it is only in 1334 that there is the first record of them being used for therapeutic means, in particular for the cure of gastro-enteric illnesses and illnesses of the skin. The Roselle's soundscape has been populated by Francesco's imagination with typical soundmarks and some Aulos and Lyra players. 2. The Onslaught. A true masterpiece of Francesco. The reconstruction took several months of work, both for scholarly research and for the registration of individual samples, accurate to the point of choosing only metal and wood from the Etruscan coast. Surely the process of spatialization has been the most challenging of all the DVD for Agostini, who has used almost all the algorithms of X-spat box2, in particular HF Damping and the Distance Factor to simulate the gradual approach to the village of barbarian horde noise and chaos of the bloody battle accordingly. 3. Banquet. Another fantastic work of virtual archeology of the soundscape, accurated in all the details. A group of musicians entertain the guests of a banquet organized by a Etruscan Pater Familias or perhaps even by the warrior Princeps returning from battle or the hunt. 4. Le Anfore Etrusche. The Etruscan Amphorae is the most sperimental soundscape in this DVD. Francesco dreams to be swimming in the Tyrrhenian Sea, very slowly. Suddenly he sees ahead of him some amphorae, bogged down on the seabed. From behind are coming the typical soundmarks of the beach, but the sounds seem to be coming from the sky because the ears are at the sea level, half-submerged... 5. Caecina. Cecina is the town where Francesco Landucci lives. At the time of the Etruscans consisted mainly of a large farm, owned by the Caecina family. Some remains of a tank of the villa Caecina, from Roman times however, may be currently visited by the tourists that usually spend the summer in the tuscan city. 6. Aplu. Aplu or Apulu is the Etruscan god of thunder and lightning. It has many similarities with the greek god Apollo, in art is represented with a crown and laurel branches. 7. Mar Tirrenum. The Etruscans were very good sailors and came and went constantly from all the islands of the Tuscan archipelago, especially from the island of Elba, the seat of their iron and copper mines. 8. Losna. Losna was the Etruscan moon goddess, and was also associated with the sea and tides. Most of the sounds included in this soundscape were recorded at night in the beautiful Tuscan countryside... |
